Raiders finish day one at Mason Rudolph in 14th

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee carded a 21-over par 309 in the opening round of the Mason Rudolph Championship Friday, holding the 14th spot through the first 18 holes.
The Blue Raiders made the turn at 9-over par but despite managing more birdies after the turn they went 12-over on the second half of the day.
Sophomore Hanley Long led MT on the day with a 2-over 74, notching a nine-hole score of 1-under before making the turn, and sits in a tie for 30th place.
Seniors Samantha Gotcher and Lacie York each notched a 6-over 78 on the day with Gotcher carding a team-best 1-over 37 after the turn. The pair are tied for 61st through 18 holes.
Sophomore Jenna Burris led the Blue Raiders with three birdies on the day but finished at 7-over par 79 on the opening day, placing her in a tie for 69th.
Freshman Katherine Holmes rounded out Middle Tennessee's lineup with a 12-over 84 and will enter the second round in 79th place.
Burris is among the top golfers in the field in Par 3 scoring, notching an even par round on the short holes, while Burris and Long both carded 1-under scores on the day on the Par 5 holes.
Long also notched 14 pars Friday, tied for second most in the field of 81 golfers.
Middle Tennessee tees off in round two at 9:55 a.m. on Saturday alongside Virginia and Yale.
