Round 2 set for Monday
ROUND ONE RESULTS
COLLEGE GROVE, TN – Middle Tennessee fired an opening round 2-over par 290 to grab second place in the 14-team field following day one of the Frankin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at The Grove (par 72, 7,348 yards).
Cincinnati owns the overall lead with an even par 288 followed by the Blue Raiders and then Troy, Ole Miss and College of Charleston all tied for third at 292.
"It was another good start for us today," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "Anytime you have four guys inside the top 20 individually you are going to be successful. We are all looking forward to round two and continuing to do what we have done all season."
Senior Connor Slane and sophomore James Beckner led the way for Middle Tennessee in round one as both carded even par rounds of 72. Slane led MT with five birdies on the day, while Beckner had two birdies. Slane and Beckner are both tied for seventh overall.
Freshman Chip Thomas and senior Joey Savoie both put up rounds of 73 to tie for 16th in the 78-man field. Thomas and Savoie both registered two birdies each with Thomas getting his on the front side and Savoie notched his on the back.
Sophomore Marcus Byrd, who also had two birdies, is tied for 31st after posting a 74.
Drake Duncan and Hoeyong Kim are playing as individuals this week. Duncan had a 73 in round one while Kim added a 74. Duncan is tied for 16th and Kim is tied for 31st.
The second round will get underway Monday morning at 8 AM and fans can follow all the scoring at golfstat.com.
