Blue Raiders to compete in Charleston, S.C. this weekend
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After a challenging slate of hidden dual matches last weekend in South Carolina, Middle Tennessee's women's tennis team will be back in the Palmetto State this weekend for the USTA Pro Circuit 10K.
"We're a fairly inexperienced team overall, so we're still finding our identity as a team," head coach Charlie Ramsay said. "We worked really hard this week and pushed the girls to make the right decision with a clear mind while under pressure."
The event will be hosted by the LTP Tennis Club in Charleston, South Carolina, and will be played on clay courts. The singles qualifying round includes 64 participants. The 16 team field of doubles will start play Sept. 27.
"Playing these pro tournaments against a high level of competition helps our girls out quite a bit as we prepare for the spring season," Ramsay added. "We definitely want to focus on giving our girls the opportunity to play more fall pro tournaments in the future."
After one fall event, Costanza Magazzini and Marta Peris Herrero lead the team in singles victories with two apiece. Sarah Sediri and Maria Josefina Zehnder combined for two wins in the South Carolina Fall Invitational to lead the squad in doubles wins early in the fall.
