SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Middle Tennessee travels to San Antonio, Texas for its first road conference match of the season. The Blue Raiders will face off against the UTSA Roadrunners Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
The Blue Raiders and Roadrunners have met just once in the history of the programs. In the 2014 season UTSA came to Murfreesboro and left with a 3-0 victory. For the Roadrunners, Brianna Livecchi is the only point collector of the game to remain on the roster, as she had an assist in the contest.
Middle Tennessee (3-4-1) is coming off a conference opening win against UAB last Sunday. The Blue Raiders offense got a chance to click in the game, scoring four goals. Abbie Brown netted two of them including the game winner, helping the Blue Raiders to their first come from behind win since October 2012.
Brown now leads the team in goals with four and points with nine. Salera Jordan also scored in the win over UAB bringing her season total to three while she continues to lead Middle in shots with 30. Amber Hoot scored the other goal against the Blazers, the first of her career, on a shot into the upper left corner of the net from 25 yards out.
Sydney Chalcraft picked up the win in goal while tying her career high of eight saves. She now has 43 this season and leads the conference in saves per game at 5.38.
UTSA enters Saturday's match, which will serve as their C-USA opener, with a 4-5 record. The Roadrunners picked up wins over Abilene Christian and Sam Houston State but are currently in the midst of a three game losing streak in which they have been outscored 11-1.
Kaja Skare leads the Roadrunners in goals with six, scoring two each against Abilene Christian and Northwestern State. Jordyn Lacy and Katieann Lochte each have three goals. Lacy scored two against Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Lochte netted two against Abilene Christian as well.
The Roadrunners have alternated three different goalkeepers this season, with each seeing near equal playing time. Sophomore Isabella Sanchez played the majority of the Roadrunners most recent contest and has a 2-1 record with four saves on the year. Hannah Weisse leads the goalkeeping unit in saves with 15 while Michelle Cole has logged seven saves this season to go with a 2-2 record.
