MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team goes up against another Nashville foe as Belmont visits Murfreesboro this Sunday. The Blue Raiders face off with the Bruins at 4:00 p.m.
MT is 8-5 all-time against Belmont with the last contest coming in 2014. The Bruins won that match 1-0 in overtime. At home, the Blue Raiders are 5-2 against the Bruins while posting a 6-3 record under Head Coach Aston Rhoden.
MT is 2-2 on the year with wins over Jacksonville State, 1-0, and Jackson State, 6-2. However, the Blue Raiders are on a two-game skid as of late falling to Florida State and Lipscomb by 3-0 score lines.
Freshman Sydney Chalcraft has seen nearly every minute in goal for the Raiders in 2016. Against Lipscomb, she made a career-high eight saves to bring her season total to 19.
Salera Jordan had six shots versus the Bison, four of which were on goal, while Angie Lai and Haley Nishimoto each posted two shots on goal in the contest. Abbie Brown continues to lead the Raiders in scoring having notched two goals and an assist earlier this season.
Belmont enters the match with a winless 0-2-2 record. The Bruins tied with Lipscomb earlier this season as well as University of Illinois Chicago. Most recently, Belmont suffered a 3-1 loss to South Alabama.
The Bruins have posted just two goals through their four games with one coming off the foot of Allie Svoboda and the other from Grace Whalen. Belicia Mendiola leads the team in shots with 15 and also has an assist on the season. Mendiola was the Bruins' goal scorer the last time the two teams met.
Three different goalkeepers have seen time for the Bruins with Stephanie Bukovec seeing the brunt of the time. She has 12 saves on the year while freshman Lily Herman has seven.
