Four Blue Raiders to compete in Chattanooga
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis will be in Chattanooga this weekend, as the Mocs are set to host the 34th annual Steve Baras Fall Classic.
This is a two-day tournament on Friday, Sept. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 1. Action begins at 8:30 a.m. (E.D.T.) both days. The women's side of the event will include a mixed format round-robin competition featuring Jacksonville State, Mercer, Southern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky and Kennesaw State, along with the Blue Raiders and Mocs.
"We definitely appreciate the opportunity to get on the courts again this weekend and compete at Chattanooga," MT head coach Charlie Ramsay said. "This is a great field, and we're excited to get even more experience."
Sarah Sediri, Marta Peris Herrero, Alory Pereira and Costanza Magazzini will represent the Blue Raiders in the Steve Baras Fall Classic. Magazzini holds a 4-2 record through two fall events, leading the squad. Herrero advanced to the second round of the USTA Pro Circuit 10K and earned a victory over South Carolina to open the fall season.
"We need to be able to tolerate some discomfort and enjoy the process," Ramsay said of the team's mindset going into the third event of the fall. "We can't get too result oriented early."
Admission is free at the Champions Club, located at 3400 Lupton Drive in Chattanooga. It is at the back of the Rivermont Park Complex on the banks of the Tennessee River.
