MT seeks best C-USA start since 2013-14
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Following a weekend sweep in the first two Conference USA home games, Middle Tennessee takes a four-game winning streak on the road against Marshall Thursday evening.
Thursday's action from Henderson Center is set for a 5 p.m. tip-off and can be heard on 89.5 WMOT with Dick Palmer on the call. Fans can also catch the game via the conference streaming site, CUSA.TV/RaiderVision.
The Blue Raiders (8-6, 3-0) lead the all-time series 5-0 against the Herd (10-5, 2-2).
The Lady Raiders picked up a pair of league wins against Rice and North Texas last weekend and are seeking their best start in to the conference season since 2013-14.
Alex Johnson continued her impressive start to the new year, and has averaged 21 points and 6.67 rebounds per game to start league play. The sophomore is third in the league scoring race, averaging 18.1 per outing, and has landed double figures in each game this season.
After a 2-0 start in conference action, Marshall dropped a pair of road contests at Old Dominion and Charlotte last weekend.
The Herd rank second in the conference in scoring offense with 75.1 points per game, with Shayna Gore leading the charge with a 16.3 average. Ashley Saintigene and Khadaijia Brooks are tied for seventh in C-USA with 7.4 rebounds per outing.
Thursday will also provide a tough battle on the boards. Marshall averages 43.3 rebounds per game while MT surrenders just 32.4 rebounds a game, both marks standing as league-bests.
After Thursday's matchup, Middle Tennessee will cap the weekend with a Sunday afternoon showdown against league rival WKU. Sunday's tip is set for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on Fox College Sports.
