MT claims seven top finishes in Ed Temple Classic

Blue Raiders prep for Commodore Invite next weekend
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee nabbed seven first-place finishes, with the women's squad claiming five top spots, in a successful day Sunday at the Ed Temple Classic hosted by Tennessee State.
In the 55-meter event, Ifiok Umoh and Janet Amponsah began the day by taking first with times of 6.48 and 7.05, respectively.
Shaina Johnson, Agnes Abu and Julia Jelagat also took first-place finishes in the women's events of 400 meter, mile run and 3000-meter run. Johnson claimed a 57.91 finish, while Abu and Jelagat ran times of 5.00:81 and 10:47.97 in their respective events.
On the men's side, the other lone top finisher was Jacob Patten in the high jump with a leap of 2.05 meters.
Kigen Chemadi and Nathah Mack were also the two top collegiate finishers in the 800-meter dash with times of 1:55.99 and 1:59.30, respectively, while in the field, Atsu Nyamadi placed second in the shot put event with a final throw of 14.16 meters.
To cap the day, the women's relay team of Abike Egbeniyi, Agnes Abu, Janet Amponsah and Shaina Johnson claimed a first-place victory with a time of 3:46.54 in the 4x400-meter relay. On the men's side, Sampson Laari, Ifiok Umoh, Nathan Mack and Trevon Sanders finished second in the same event with a time of 3:21.38.
Middle Tennessee will continue its indoor season at the Commodore Invitational next weekend as the squad travels to Nashville for the third meet of the year.
