Fun-fillled night planned for Murphy Madness

Event scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 26
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee's men's and women's basketball programs are set to host the fourth annual Murphy Madness event to open up the 2017-18 Blue Raider basketball season on Thursday, Oct. 26.
Admission to the event is free for all Blue Raider supporters. This year, comedian and MTSU alumni, T.C. Cope will be the 2017 Murphy Madness emcee. T.C. has worked with comedians such as Bernie Mac, D.L. Hughley, Ted Carpenter, Chris Thomas, George Wallace, Joe Torre, Edwonda White, Hamburger Jones, Reggie Ballard (Bro-Man), Adele Givens and a host of others.
The festivities will begin at 4:00 p.m. with trick-or-treating in the Greenland Drive Parking Lot hosted by Alpha Delta Pi and Fraternity and Sorority Life. The trick-or-treating will be continued inside on the Murphy Center concourse at 5:00 p.m. There will be photo booths and inflatables available both inside and outside.
Murphy Madness is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. with the introductions of the 2017-18 Blue Raider student-athletes and coaching staffs.
Following introductions, there will be a special performance from our 2017 Fight Song winners, which included members from Alpha Omicron Pi, Phi Delta Theta and Phi Beta Sigma.
For the basketball portion of Murphy Madness, the format will be similar to the NBA All-Star event. There will be four teams. Each team will be made up of a fan section in the Murphy Center, a MT basketball alumni and members of both the men's and women's teams. There will be a shooting stars, skills, 3-point and slam dunk competitions. Each event will be assigned points. Team with the most points at the end of the night will be going home the winners.
One lucky fan will have a chance to sink a half-court shot to win a new vehicle from Ford of Murfreesboro.
Other lucky fans will have opportunity to win some great prizes. Prizes include:
Following the action on the court, both the men's and women's teams will be available to fans for autographs and pictures.
To win some of these prizes, Blue Raider fans and students are encouraged to be on the look for the numbered mini basketballs that will be passed out leading up to the event. Fans must bring these numbered mini basketballs to Murphy Madness for the chance to possibly go home a winner.
