Cross Country to Race Friday at Alabama

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – With three meets under their belts the Middle Tennessee cross country teams head out on the road for meet number four of the year. The Raiders will compete in the Crimson Classic on Friday, Oct. 13 hosted by Alabama.
32 men's teams and 34 women's teams are set to compete at the meet with over 650 athletes expected. A large majority of them belonging in the South Region, with several of the teams ranked in the region, including on the men's side No. 3 Alabama, No. 4 Georgia Tech, and No. 7 Auburn and on the women's side No. 3 Florida State, No. 4 Samford and No. 6 Auburn. The women's side has two nationally ranked opponents as well in No. 29 Mississippi State and RV Florida State.
The No. 22 men's team is coming off a week of rest after finishing sixth in the Greater Louisville Classic racing against some of the nation's top teams. Jacob Choge earned a sixth place overall finish at the event in a personal-best time of 23:36.53 on his way to being named C-USA Athlete of the Week.
The women's squad was 26th at the Greater Louisville Classic with Julia Jelagat coming in as the top MT finisher with a time of 17:41.37 for 66th place. Several of the Raiders recorded personal best at the event, nearly a minute faster than races earlier this season.
The Crimson Classic will be an 8k race for the men starting at 9 a.m. and a 6k race for the women starting at 9:45 a.m. at the Harry Pritchett Running Park.
