MT Falls to Rice on the Road

HOUSTON, Texas – The Middle Tennessee soccer team fell to No. 24 Rice, 4-2 on Friday night. Taylor Hatch scored her second goal of the season while Sally Gill collected her first. The Blue Raiders fall to 6-7, 3-3 on the year following the contest.
Rice got on the board first in the game, scoring in the 13th minute but less than 30 seconds later MT came stomping down the field to equalize. Peyton DePriest was able to evade some defenders and sent in a cross that Hatch headed into the back of the net.
The Owls then scored two goals to take a 3-1 lead as the teams headed to halftime.
In the second half, the Raiders got one goal back in the 61st minute of the match. Rice was whistled for a foul in the box and MT was awarded a penalty kick. Gill converted the Raider chance to cut the Owl lead to one, 3-2.
In the 81st minute, the Owls sealed the win scoring their fourth goal of the night off a corner kick.

The Raiders continue on their Texas road weekend and play at UTEP on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.

- Sally Gill's penalty kick goal was Middle's first since Emily Jorgensen converted one against Western Carolina on Aug. 30, 2015.
