Hatch and DeBien score early, DePriest seals match late
EL PASO, Texas – Middle Tennessee got off to a quick start Sunday evening in El Paso and grinded out a 3-1 win against UTEP to move to 4-3 in Conference USA play.
Sophomore Taylor Hatch opened the scoring in just the fifth minute as a ball poorly played by the UTEP defense fell to her feet in front of an empty net.
The Blue Raiders doubled their lead in the 19th minute as Amber Hoot fired a low free kick into the box and Sam DeBien slotted it past the Miner keeper and into the back of the net.
After the Miners got a goal back in the 66th minute and appeared to have all the momentum, the Blue Raider defense battled to hold the lead before freshman Peyton DePriest sealed the match for MT with a breakaway goal inside the final 10 seconds.
