Raiders tied for 10th after two rounds

Johnson leads way
VERO BEACH, FL – Middle Tennessee had rounds of 280-288 on day one of the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational and are tied for 10th overall. The final round will get underway Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8 AM.
South Florida is the overall leader with a 552 total followed by Notre Dame, Maryland, Louisville and Memphis.
As a team, the Blue Raiders lead the field in par 3 scoring at 2-under and are 14-under on the par 5s.
"We got off to a good start this morning but could not keep the momentum going during the afternoon round," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "The golf course played very easy all day and we didn't make enough putts to take advantage of all the scoring opportunities."
Redshirt freshman Tyler Johnson led the Blue Raiders with rounds of 68-72 for a 4-under par total and is tied for 18th. Johnson led the team with 10 birdies.
Junior Marcus Byrd is tied for 30th with a 69 in round one and a 73 in round two. Byrd leads the field in par 3 scoring at 2-under and is tied for ninth in par 5 scoring at 5-under.
Junior James Beckner is also tied for 30th after posting a 70 and 72. Beckner is tied for ninth in par 5 scoring at 5-under.
Sophomores Chip Thomas and Tanner Owens are tied for 41st and 71st, respectively. Thomas had rounds of 73-71, while Owens carded a 76 and 75.
