Raiders Host Tigers in Midweek Clash

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team takes a break from conference play to host in-state rival, Tennessee State in the Alumni Memorial Gym on Wednesday Oct. 25th at 6p.m.
Last Time Out
The Blue Raiders dropped both matches last weekend, falling to Southern Miss in three sets and UAB in four.
Sophomore Dora Peonia posted the best overall performance for the Blue Raiders recording 19 kills while picking up 17 digs. The Castel Bolognese, Italy native also recorded four blocks during her outing.
Likewise, junior Makila York contributed 14 kills on the weekend while adding a career-best three service aces over the Blazers on Sunday.
From the backrow, sophomore Brienna Tankesley (12) and senior Sloan Sullivan (10) posted for a combined 22 digs in the two matches.
Scouting the Tigers
Tennessee State inks a 6-17 overall record while posting a 2-8 conference record this season. The Tigers offense is paced by junior Rachel Henderson tallying 237 kills on the season to average 2.79 kills per set.
Senior Cherlie Adorno-DeJesus leads the Tiger defense averaging 4.68 digs per set. Similarly, sophomore Curstyn Wilson contributed 223 digs this season for Tennessee State.
Series History versus Tennessee State
The Blue Raiders and Tigers have created a friendly competition over the past 30 seasons. Middle Tennessee has clinched 34 matches of the 36 played over Tennessee State. MT boasts a 19-0 record versus Tennessee State in the Alumni Memorial Gym. However, the Blue Raiders recorded their second loss to the Tigers last season in four sets at Keen Hall in Nashville, Tenn.
