MT Heads to UAB for Final Regular Season Match

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee soccer team will head out on the road for their final regular season game of the 2017 season. The Blue Raiders will face off against UAB on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in Birmingham, Ala.
MT and UAB both come into the contest with their Conference tournament hopes alive. Middle current sits in sixth place with an 8-8, 5-4 record with 15 points while UAB is 11-3-3, 5-2-1 with 16 points. The Blue Raiders need to win or tie against the Blazers or have WKU, Florida Atlantic or Charlotte lose one of their contests this weekend to secure a spot in the C-USA tournament.
UAB and Middle Tennessee have met five times in the past with the Blue Raiders coming away victorious on every occasion. In the 2016 match, MT won 4-2. Amber Hoot scored her first career goal in the game, a dominant strike from 25 yards out. For the Blazers, returning player Jessica Do scored both of their goals in the contest.
Senior Amy Brewer spearheads the UAB offense with a team-high in goals (nine), assists (five), points (23), shots (35) and game winning goals (four). She has earned two conference Offensive Player of the Week honors earlier this season after notching two weekends with two hat tricks.
Megan Hudgens and Rachel Green are also threats up front with seven goals and 17 shots on goal each. Hudgens also bodes five assists on the year while Green earned an Offensive Player of the Week honor back in week two.
Defensively, UAB has one Defensive Player of the Week honor to their credit. Audra Wood earned the honor back on Sept. 11 after she helped the Blazers to a shutout of Tennessee Tech.
Junior Kelsey Daugherty has played every minute in goal for the Blazers this season. She has also earned three Goalkeeper of the Week awards this season in which she had three shutout wins and two ties. On the year, Daugherty has six shutouts, second-most in C-USA. She boasts the lowest goals against average (.78) in the conference. On the year, Daugherty has 82 saves and a .854 save percentage.
The Blue Raiders enter the match with C-USA's top goal scorer, Peyton DePriest (13). She also sits atop the conference in points (29), goals per game (.81) and game winning goals (four). DePriest's 13 goals is also good for eighth-best in the nation and is tied for the most goals by a freshman in NCAA DI. She is also 13th in the nation in points.
Amber Hoot leads the team in assists with seven, which is second-most in the conference and ranks in the top 40 in the nation. Her .44 assists per game mark is fourth-best in the conference and top 50 in the nation.
Sydney Chalcraft will return as the Blue Raider goalkeeper, having played every minute this season. She is fourth in the conference with saves (81) and is good for 5.06 saves per game.
