MT Falls to UAB But Still Earns C-USA Tournament Berth

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Looking for a spot in the C-USA conference tournament, the Blue Raiders fell to UAB, 2-1, on Friday night. However, that did not put their hopes out of reach as Charlotte also lost on the night, which secured a spot for MT.
The Blue Raiders did their best to secure a spot on their own merit but the Blazers proved to be too much, besting MT for just the first time in program history.
UAB got on the board first in the game with a goal in the 11th minute of action.
Sydney Navarro was able to equalize for MT in 27th minute with her second goal of the year. The Blue Raiders had a long string of possession following a free kick and the ball found Amber Hoot who flipped it up to Navarro in the box. She was able to hammer it past the goalie to make it 1-1.
Early in the second half, the Blazers pulled ahead once again on a header off a corner kick.
The Blue Raiders had a couple of close chances down the stretch from Sam DeBien, Peyton DePriest and Hoot but the UAB goalkeeper was able to keep MT off the scoreboard.

- The Blue Raiders return to the postseason event for the third time in the last four seasons, missing just the 2016 tournament.
- Amber Hoot earned her eighth assist of the season, the second-most in C-USA

WHAT'S NEXT?
Pending the result of the WKU and UAB game on Sunday, the Blue Raiders will either be the seventh or eighth seeded team in the tournament.
The C-USA Conference Tournament gets underway with the first round of play on Wednesday, Nov. 1. The Blue Raiders game time and opponent will be announced following the conclusion of all team's regular season matches on Sunday, Oct. 29.
