Raiders travel to UTEP for Sunday matchup

MUFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team continues their conference schedule on the road, traveling to El Paso, Texas to compete against UTEP in the Memorial Gym on Oct. 29th at noon.
Last Time Out
The Blue Raiders clinched their second sweep of the season over in-state rival, Tennessee State on Wednesday afternoon in the Alumni Memorial Gym.
Sophomore Dora Peonia (14) and junior Makila York (13) paced the Blue Raider offense on Wednesday to ink a combined 27-kills in the match. Similarly, junior Bailey Mason posted her best overall performance of the season recording eight kills (.375), five digs and two aces.
From the back row, sophomore Brienna Tankesley tallied 11 digs during the match to average 3.67 digs per set.
After the midweek match, the Blue Raiders record advanced to 7-18 overall, to notch two more wins than last season.
Raider Success from the Service Line
Middle Tennessee ranks fourth in the nation with 157 service aces this season. This marks the most aces recorded by the Blue Raiders in a single-season since the 25-point era in 2008. The team also ranks seventh in aces per set (1.76).
Peonia has led the Blue Raiders from the service line all season. The Castel Bolognese, Italy native tallied her best outing from the service line on Oct. 15 to record nine service aces over Charlotte in the Alumni Memorial Gym. Peonia tallies a combined 42 aces on the season to surpass the current single-season total service ace record held by Maria Szivos (2010, 38).Likewise, Peonia tops the single-season aces per set record averaging .48 aces per set followed by fellow sophomore Taylor Hammill (.37).
As a squad, the Blue Raiders have recorded a total of 157 aces this season to better the previous single-season record from 2008 with a 153 aces recorded. Similarly, Middle Tennessee also recorded a new single-season record in service aces per set (1.76) improving upon the previous record set in 2016 (1.32).
