Former football coach Ben Hurt passes

MURFREESBORO – Ben Hurt, who was the head football coach for Middle Tennessee from 1975 to 1978, passed away today at the age of 83. Hurt was also a 1957 graduate of MTSU.
Hurt was born in Nashville in 1933 and spent most of his childhood in Pulaski, TN. He graduated from Giles County High School in 1952 where he played both football and basketball.
Hurt came to MTSU in 1952 and went out for the football team where he later starred as an offensive guard. He played on the 1956 OVC Championship team for Coach Charles Murphy.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Woodfin's Funeral Home from 4 to 6 PM. The service will follow at 6 PM.
