MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team will host their non-conference home opener versus Tennessee Tech on Tuesday, Nov. 14th at 6:30 p.m. in the Murphy Center.
Scouting the Opponent: Tennessee Tech
Tennessee Tech is coming off a 10-20 season and a 7-9 Ohio Valley Conference record. The Golden Eagles graduated four seniors after last season to add seven freshmen and two junior transfers to its roster this season.
The Golden Eagles (1-0) hosted their season opener on Nov. 10 to clinch their first win of the season over Tennessee Wesleyan, 84-66.
Middle Tennessee leads the all-time history over Tennessee Tech, 41-38. The Blue Raiders have shown success in the Murphy Center clinching 26 wins over the Golden Eagles in Murfreesboro.
Last Time Out: MT at Vanderbilt
The Lady Raiders (1-0) opened their season with a 65-54 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday.
Junior guard Jess Louro led the Lady Raider offense recording 16 points over the Commodores. Louro put down four 3-pointers, while adding six defensive rebounds and two steals.
Similarly, senior duo Gabby Lyon (10) and Abbey Sissom (8) tallied a combined 18 points for the Lady Raiders. Lyon added 10 rebounds and two steals while Sissom inked five assists during her 35 minutes of playing time.
The victory over Vanderbilt also marked the 300th win for the Lady Raider head coach Rick Insell.
Overall, the Blue Raiders created a +5 margin (36-31) on the board while posting a 9-4 edge in steals.
