Raiders Wrap Up Regular Season Play This Weekend

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team competes in its two final matches of the season this weekend, as the team hosts Florida International University for senior night on Thursday before traveling to North Texas for a Saturday afternoon matchup.

The team fell in straight sets (25-20, 25-13, 25-16) to No. 32 WKU on Sunday, Nov. 5th in the Alumni Memorial Gym.
Junior Bailey Mason posted a season-best outing over the Lady Toppers recording 10 kills while hitting on a .278 clip. Mason also picked up five digs in the match.
Likewise, sophomore Dora Peonia and junior Makila York inked a combined 20 kills on Sunday. Peonia also contributed two digs and an assist, while York added a dig.
Honoring Senior Sloan Sullivan
This Thursday the Blue Raiders will honor lone senior Sloan Sullivan for her dedication and success with Middle Tennessee's volleyball program. Sullivan has competed in 186 sets this season to ink 111 digs this year. The Ooltewah, Tennessee native has provided depth to the Raider backrow averaging 1.15 digs per set. Sullivan has also proven effective from the service line tallying a career-high four service aces over Robert Morris this season to average .13 aces per set during her career.
Scouting the Opponents: FIU and North Texas
The FIU Panthers post a 5-15 overall record while tallying a 3-9 record in Conference USA play.
The Panthers have recorded a total of 882 kills this season with junior Magherita Bianchin (222) and senior Taija Thomas (218) pacing their attack, recording almost half of the FIU kills this season. From the Panther backrow, sophomore Helene Thelle leads FIU's defense inking 279 digs on the season followed by Bianchin with 207.
Overall, the Panthers rank fourth among C-USA competitors from the backrow tallying 1121 digs to average 15.15 digs per set. The Blue Raiders lead the series history (20-9) over FIU claiming 20 wins over the Panthers.
Meanwhile, the Mean Green is a dominant force in C-USA play this season recording its only loss to Southern Miss in a five-set thriller earlier this season.
Senior Amanda Chamberlain paces the Mean Green offense with 299 kills on the season to boast a .480 hitting percentage. Likewise, Senior Holly Milam (245) and Barbara Teakell (220) added a combined 465 kills this season.
From her libero spot, freshman Henrianna Ibarra leads the backrow defense with 222 digs this season averaging 3.00 digs per set.
