Trio of Georgia prospects now signed with Blue Raiders
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After the signing of two prospects early Thursday, head men's basketball coach Kermit Davis has announced the addition of yet another Georgia prep standout to Middle Tennessee's signing class.
Dougherty High School product Carlos Curry signed his National Letter of Intent Thursday afternoon and will join fellow Georgia products KJ Buffen and Tye Fagan in the signing class.
Curry, an Albany, Ga., native, notched 11 points per game as a junior and was a monster on the glass, tallying nine rebounds per outing.
The 6-foot-10 forward has shot up recruiting rankings of late and spurned offers from the likes of Big Ten school Oklahoma to join the Blue Raiders.
"Carlos has kind of burst onto the scene in the state of Georgia," Davis said. "We loved him in AAU. He's 6-foot-10, 245 pounds with a wingspan of nearly 7-foot-3. He can step out and make a make a three and is a very versatile player. He had a lot of schools that offered him, so he is a huge get and I think he's going to be a really great player."
Curry rounds out the early signees for Davis and his staff who have put together a collection of some of the most talented prep prospects to sign with Middle Tennessee in recent memory.
"I have to give (assistant coach) Ronnie Hamilton and our staff a lot of credit," Davis added. "It was sure a staff effort but Ronnie was kind of the lead man on all three of the guys in what we think will be a really good class."
