Four Blue Raiders to compete in FSU event
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis will send four Blue Raiders to compete in the FSU All-Conference Showdown hosted by Florida State, with action getting underway Friday morning.
Nine teams from six different conferences will be represented, including Iowa, Furman, Troy, Wisconsin, USF, UCF, and West Virginia, along with the Blue Raiders and the host team, Florida State.
Currently on a five-match win streak and coming off an unblemished weekend at the Harvard Fall Invitational is Marta Peris Herrero. The sophomore hit her stride at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional for two wins and carried that momentum into the Harvard Fall Invitational for three more wins in singles action.
Peris is 7-5 overall on the fall and is tied with Kim Kermet for second on the team in singles victories. Kermet will also bring a doubles mark of 2-8 to the FSU All-Conference Showdown this weekend. In singles, Kermet boasts an appearance in the Round of 32 at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional and won two of three at last weekend's Harvard Fall Invitational.
Lidia Burrows enters play on Friday morning with a 5-7 record in singles up to this point in the fall. She'll be looking to get back to her winning ways after falling three times at the TCU Fall Invitational, with all three losses coming against opponents from ranked teams.
Also with a 5-7 record so far this fall is Luisa Zirilli. The Italian has fared better in doubles play this fall, posting an 8-3 record through four events. At the TCU Fall Invitational, Zirilli paired with Zehnder for three wins, all against doubles combos from nationally ranked teams.
