MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Lady Raiders return to the Murphy Center on Thursday after being on the road for three straight games. The squad will host Kentucky (8-5) in the Battle of the Blues on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.
Scouting Kentucky
Kentucky opened their season with six straight wins before suffering their first 90-63 setback to No. 9 Baylor. Since their first lost, the Wildcats recorded two more wins before entering a four game loosing streak.
Junior guard Maci Morris paces the Wildcat offense recording 211 points on the season while averaging 29 points per game. Morris posts the third-best field goal percentage on the team with 78-of-164 baskets made (.476). Similarly, junior Taylor Murray leads the team with 50 assists while adding 25 steals this season.
On the defensive end, senior Alyssa Rice leads the Wildcats on the glass inking 100 rebounds on the season to average 7.7 per game.
Thursday's matchup will mark the 19th meeting between Middle Tennessee and Kentucky. UK leads the all-time series, 14-4.
Sissom, Louro earn UTRGV All-Conference Honors
Middle Tennessee guards Abbey Sissom and Jess Louro earned All-Conference honors at the UTRGV Holiday Classic.
Sissom averaged 25 points and 3.0 assists while shooting 44 percent from the field (16-of-36) and 50 percent (10-of-20) from 3-point range. Sissom posted a career-best performance over Canisius recording 28 points.
Likewise, Louro inked her first double-double of her career over Canisius with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
MT opens conference slate at Western Kentucky
After hosting Kentucky on Thursday, the Lady Raiders will open their conference slate in Bowling Green to compete against conference foe, Western Kentucky on Thursday, January 4 at 6 p.m.
