Lady Raiders drop decision at No. 4 Louisville
12/9/2017 9:06:00 PM | Women's Basketball
LOUISVILLE – Middle Tennessee ran up against a Louisville team clicking on all cylinders in an 80-26 setback against the No. 4 Cardinals here at the KFC Yum! Center Saturday night.
Louisville (11-0) came out of the gates on fire from the field and utilized one of its better shooting and passing nights to derail Middle Tennessee's upset bid from the outset.
It was a tough night for the Lady Raiders (5-3) who did not have one of their better shooting nights. Jess Louro led the way with seven points and five rebounds. Charity Savage added six points and four rebounds. No other Lady Raider had more than three points.
Middle Tennessee shot 21 percent (8-of-39) from the field, including 3-of-18 from beyond the arc.
"It was just one of those nights where nothing went right from the get-go," Middle Tennessee Head Coach Rick Insell said. "Louisville is one of the best teams in the nation and they came out strong. We didn't have one of our better nights. We can't dwell on this. We are going to put it behind us and move on. That's really all we can do."
The Cardinals were indeed sound in all facets. They shot 56 percent (27-of-48) from the field, including a sizzling 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from 3-point range. Louisville's passing was sharp as it had 26 assists on 27 field goals.
Asia Durr led a balanced Louisville attack with 19 points.
Middle Tennessee will play host to Troy Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
