MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee will be looking to add to its league-best road win total of eight as they take on rival WKU at E.A. Diddle Arena Thursday night.
The Blue Raiders and Hilltoppers are meeting for the 134th time in series history. While WKU holds a 93-40 lead in the all-time rivalry, the Raiders have won 10 of the last 12 and three of four since WKU joined Conference USA.
Middle has also won two straight and four of the last five against WKU while Head Coach Kermit Davis is 14-17 when facing the Hilltoppers.
Middle Tennessee (22-4, 12-1) swept a home series with Old Dominion and Charlotte in convincing fashion last weekend to bounce back from their only conference loss that occurred at UTEP.
The Blue Raiders are led by a trio of all-conference nominees averaging over 14 points a game in JaCorey Williams (17.1), Giddy Potts (15.3) and Reggie Upshaw (14.1).
Freshman point guard Tyrik Dixon has emerged as a fourth scorer in conference play, averaging 8.5 points per game in league competitions while dishing out 53 assists to just 17 turnovers in that span. His 3.1 assist-to-turnover ratio in Conference USA games is second best in the league.
WKU (12-13, 6-6) has lost two of its last three contests, including a five-point loss at home on Saturday to Marshall.
Justin Johnson and Que Johnson lead the Toppers in scoring, each at 14.1 points per game. The former is also Top Six in the league in rebounding (8.8), offensive rebounding (2.4) and defensive rebounding (6.4) while shooting 53 percent from the field.
The Blue Raiders and Hilltoppers tip off at 8:00 p.m. The contest will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
