MT seeking season-high sixth straight win
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – First place will be on the line when longtime rivals Middle Tennessee and WKU renew their rivalry at Murphy Center Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
Middle Tennessee (16-8, 11-2) is atop the standings and owns a one-half game lead over the Lady Hilltoppers (18-6, 10-2). The game marks the final homestand of the season for the Lady Raiders, who will close out the home slate with three straight at the friendly confines.
The game against WKU is designated as "Blue Out."
Thursday's contest is set for a 6:30 p.m. tip and will be broadcast on 89.5 WMOT with Dick Palmer and Duane Hickey on the call. Fans can also catch the action on beIN (Comcast: Channel 708, DirecTV: Channel 620, Dish: Channel 392, AT&T U-verse: Channel 1662).
As part of the annual Blue Out game, Middle Tennessee faithful are encouraged to wear blue to the game. The first 50 fans wearing blue that visit the marketing table behind Section P will win two Malco Movie passes.
Middle Tennessee leads the all-time series 33-26, and is seeking to vindicate a 66-51 setback to WKU last month.
MT is riding a season-high five-game win streak after sweeping road contests at Old Dominion and Charlotte. Reigning C-USA Player of the Week Ty Petty averaged 21 points, seven assists, 4.5 rebounds and three steals in the key victories.
Petty's stellar week enabled her to move into 19th on the Lady Raider all-time scoring list with 1,248 career points. She also moved into third on the all-time assists list with 482 and needs just three more to take over the second spot.
WKU enters Murfreesboro winners of three straight and eight of its last nine. Kendall Noble leads the Lady Toppers' offense with 15.2 points per game, while Ivy Brown and Tashia Brown also average double figures with 14.3 and 13.7 points per game, respectively.
The Lady Toppers lead the league in scoring offense at 75.6 points per game, and have limited their opponents to just 61.3 points per game this season.
Following Thursday's action, MT will host Marshall for its annual #Play4Kay game. Saturday's tip against the Herd is schedule for 2 p.m.
