MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders are back on the road Tuesday, for a mid-week game series against Lipscomb Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in Nashville, Tenn.
This will be the 52nd meeting between the two programs with the 53rd meeting coming Mar. 21. The Bisons lead the overall series 27-24. In 2016, the teams split their two games against one another, with each team winning at home.
Middle Tennessee looks to bounce back from this past weekend's 1-2 showing at Georgia Southern (RV). The Blue Raiders were strong offensively, amassing double-digit hits in all three games, a feat that only happened once in the 2016 season. MT is batting .300 as a team through three games.
Sophomores Austin Dennis and Drew Huff are both batting .300 or higher in the season, while junior Aaron Aucker is leading the team with five RBI. Kaleb King is off to a hot start in his senior campaign, hitting .385 through the first series.
10 of 14 Blue Raiders with an at-bat this season, are hitting .300 or better.
Redshirt freshman Devin Conn will be on the bump for MT Tuesday. Conn is coming off a solid performance on the mound and at the plate. The two-way player picked up the win in the Blue Raiders season opening win against Georgia Southern Friday night, throwing 3-2/3 scoreless innings in relief. On Sunday, Conn started the game in right field, going 2-for-4 with a run, along with making outstanding plays defensively.
Lipscomb will be starting Dalton Tripp on the bump Tuesday. Cade Sorrells is batting an unheard of .545 through the first three games, preseason All-American Michael Gigliotti has had a rough start to the season, hitting .111 through the Bisons first series.
An audio broadcast will be available on cusa.tv/raidervision and on the radio (92.3 WMOT 2). Follow live tweets on Twitter (@MT_Baseball).
