Magazzini and Burrows claim eighth doubles win

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Costanza Magazzini and Lidia Burrows have now won eight of nine dual match doubles, but Middle Tennessee's women's tennis team dropped their Sunday afternoon match at Chattanooga, 4-2.
Magazzini and Burrows earned a 6-3 victory at the No. 2 doubles spot, but the Mocs took a 6-1 win at No. 1 followed by a doubles-point clinching triumph by a score of 7-5 at the No. 3 doubles spot.
In singles, Magazzini evened the overall team score up at one point apiece after winning, 6-3, 6-4, on court two. The Mocs clinched the team win over MT by winning at No. 4, 1 and 3, respectively, before Luisa Zirilli finished off her match at No. 5 in three sets, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. Sarah Sediri was unable to finish her match at bottom of the order but earned a 6-3 first set win.
Two of Chattanooga's singles wins came in straight sets, but Burrows was taken to a third set at No. 3 after winning the first set, 6-3.
Up next for the Blue Raiders is a trip to California to face San Francisco March 5 at 3 p.m., followed by matches with Fresno State March 8 and BYU March 9 in Fresno, California.
