Following one of top shooting performances in C-USA history
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Abbey Sissom has become a fan favorite in her three seasons as a Lady Raider.
Sissom's fans made sure the Middle Tennessee junior sharpshooter is known nationally, as well, after voting her to the final spot on the NCAA.com's "Starting Five," a weekly feature highlighting the week's top Division I performances.
Sissom won a spot on the Starting Five by winning Tuesday's fan vote on the NCAA Women's Basketball Twitter account after turning in one of the most prolific shooting performances in C-USA history against UAB Sunday.
Sissom joins a Who's Who of college basketball standouts on this week's list. In addition to Sissom, this week's list includes Napheesa Collier, UConn; Rachel Howard, San Francisco; Kelsey Mitchell, Ohio State and Kelsey Plum, Washington.

"To be mentioned in the same company as those great players is pretty awesome," Sissom said. "I would like to thank all of the Middle Tennessee fans who voted for me. Our fans are the greatest. They are always there for us."
Sissom was 8-of-9 from 3-point range against UAB with a game-high 25-point effort. The eight 3-pointers were the second most by a C-USA player this season, and tied for sixth all-time in a C-USA game. Her 88.8 percent showing was the best by a C-USA player this season with a minimum of eight 3-point attempts, and it goes down as the best in league history in a conference game.
In all games, the 88.8 percent showing is tied for first all-time with a minimum of nine attempts, equaling former UCF standout Chelsie Wiley, who was 8-of-9 against Ole Miss in 2008.
Sissom established career highs for points (25) and 3-point field goals (8) in the win. The eight 3-pointers are the most by a Lady Raider since KeKe Stewart poured in 11 vs. North Texas in 2014. The eight treys tied for third most in a single-game in Lady Raider history.
"My teammates did a great job getting me the ball as I was coming open, and I was able to knock the shots," Sissom said. "It was good execution of our offense and my teammates made good reads. I was just glad to deliver."
Sissom has been delivering all season, but she has been on fire of late. The junior is shooting 71 percent from 3-point range over the last three games, connecting on 15-of-21 treys. She is second in C-USA and 22nd nationally for 3-point field goal percentage with a .421 clip. She is fifth in C-USA for 3-point field goals per game with 2.3.
Additionally, Sissom is third in C-USA for assist-turnover ratio (1.9) and third in C-USA and 29th nationally for minutes per game (36.4).
