MT fell behind early and failed to get back in the game
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Middle Tennessee ended its four-game win streak, falling to Indiana 12-1 Saturday afternoon at Bart Kaufman Field.
The Blue Raiders (8-7) struggled pitching, giving up 23 hits, and the Hoosiers (5-7-1) took full advantage.
IU blitzed MT early, amassing 12 hits in the first three innings. Indiana lead 8-0 after three. Indiana built its lead to 12-0 in the fifth.
MT finally got on the scoreboard in the seventh after a leadoff double from Riley Delgado, and a Kevin Sullivan RBI fielder's choice.
Delgado was the bright spot for the Blue Raiders today, going 2-of-2 with a double and a walk.
Senior pitcher Caleb Smith had a nice outing in relief, throwing 3-1/3 scoreless innings and striking out a career-high four batters.
Sophomore Carson Lester (0-3) was tagged with the loss, Brian Hobbie (1-1) picked up the win for the Hoosiers.
Rubber match is set for Sunday at 12:05 p.m. Redshirt freshman Devin Conn will get the start on the mound for MT.
