Thomas earns player of week honors for second time

MURFREESBORO – Middle Tennessee freshman men's golfer Chip Thomas has been voted the Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week for the second time this spring as announced by the league office Wednesday. It marks the fourth honor for the Blue Raiders this season and the third by a freshman.
Thomas tied his best performance as a collegian against a talent-laden field that included seven of the 15 teams ranked in the top 50 and three of those opponents in the top 25. Thomas matched his season-best finish and best 54-hole total with a 231 mark, and tied for 11th.
Thomas finished tied for first in the field of 92 in par-5 scoring at 8-under. The Knoxville native also tied for sixth with 12 birdies throughout the tournament and notched an eagle.
