Men's golf ready for Linger Longer

Raiders ranked 45th in nation
MURFREESBORO – The 45th ranked Middle Tennessee men's golf team will jump right back into competition with this weekend's Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, GA. The 15-team field will play the 54-hole event at the Great Waters Golf Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee (par 72, 7,073 yards).
The tournament gets underway Sunday with 18 holes each day through Tuesday.
The 2017 field will include Alabama, Augusta, Baylor, Charlotte, Georgia, Kennesaw State, Maryland, Mercer, Michigan, Middle Tennessee, Ohio State, Troy, Virginia, VCU, and UNC Greensboro.
Middle Tennessee is fresh off a tie for second at the Lamkin Grips SD Classic where they picked up wins over No. 22 San Diego State, No. 48 New Mexico, No. 20 Duke, and tied with No. 18 Texas and No. 28 North Carolina.
The Blue Raider lineup will not change from last week as freshman Ilari Saulo, senior Joey Savoie, senior Drake Duncan, freshman Chip Thomas, and sophomore Marcus Byrd are set to make the trip.
Saulo leads the team with a 71.9 stroke average followed closely by Savoie's 72.0. Freshman Chip Thomas, who has back-to-back C-USA Player of the Week awards, owns an impressive 73.0 average.
Byrd and Duncan are next in line at 73.3 and 73.8, respectively.
The Blue Raiders will play a practice round on Saturday and the tournament will get underway on Sunday morning at 7:30 AM central. Teams will tee off No. 1 and No. 10.
