Blue Raiders excel in outdoor opener

ATLANTA, Ga. — In the first outdoor meet of the season, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders enjoyed a balanced day in the field and on the track at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.

Janet Amponsah took home the lone gold for the Blue Raiders in the women's 100-meter dash, sprinting a 11.55.

Elizabeth Dadzie provided the balanced day by placing third in the women's long jump as well as taking bronze in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Dadzie started the meet with a leap of 19-08.00 in the long jump, before transferring that success by clocking a 13.67 for a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles.

Loveth Odia also brought home a third-place finish for the Blue Raiders in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 54.64.

On the men's side, Eliud Rutto excelled in distance. The senior clocked a 14:57.53 to take third place in the 5000-meter run.

To cap the day, the men's quartet of Nathan Mack, Trevon Sanders, Tahir Walsh, Adeniji Adedamola took fourth place in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:18.27.

Following this weekend's tune-up, the Blue Raiders will return to action next weekend at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State.
