Blue Raiders fall again to FAU Saturday

MT held the powerful Owls offense scoreless until the 5th
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Middle Tennessee dropped their fourth straight contest, falling to FAU 10-1 Saturday afternoon at FAU Baseball Stadium.
The Blue Raiders (8-10, 0-2 C-USA) failed to get anything going in the game, while the Owls (13-5-1, 2-0 C-USA) took full advantage in the 5th inning.
MT held FAU scoreless and to one hit going into the 5th inning. The FAU offense exploded with nine runs and eight hits with 15 batters stepping to the plate. Putting the game out of reach from there.
The Blue Raiders got on the board in the sixth with a Drew Huff RBI-double to the left center gap, scoring Kevin Sullivan.
Murfreesboro native Blake Benefield continued his hot-hitting, going 2-of-4, and 5-of-9 in the series. Redshirt freshman Devin Conn with another solid start, going 2-of-3 for the second straight game at the plate.
Starting pitcher (0-1) Tyler Hasper had a solid start, throwing 4-1/3 innings allowing three runs, on three hits, while striking out six. The Blue Raider bullpen continues to be the Achilles heel of this ball club.
FAU starter Alex House (2-1) picked up the win throwing 7-2/3 innings of work.
The final game of the series set for Sunday at 11 a.m. Two-way player Conn will be on the mound for MT.
