MT set to play three in New Orleans

Blue Raiders to play fourth C-USA match

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis is looking ahead to three matches this weekend in New Orleans, including a showdown against No. 43 Tulane, New Orleans and Conference USA foe LA Tech.
On Friday, the Blue Raiders kick off the weekend against the Green Wave, who own an 18-5 mark on the season, including a 9-1 record in home matches.
The back of the lineup is what gives No. 43 Tulane its strength, as they have 16 wins as a team at No. 4, followed by 13 at No. 5 and 14 at No. 6. Ivone Alvaro and Christina Sisti each have a 14-5 dual match record to lead the team from the bottom of the Green Wave lineup. The top of the order is led by Naz Karagoz, who's dropped five consecutive matches and has a record of 8-11 at this point in the season.
The Blue Raiders will look to improve on their 5-0 all-time record against New Orleans Friday afternoon.
New Orleans is 11-4 on the season and are winners of seven out of their last eight matches. Claudette Gilhespie leads the Privateers in wins this dual match season with an 11-1 mark, winning matches at No. 2, 3 and 4. The Privateers' singles lineup starts with Trang Dao, who is 9-3 this season at the top spot. New Orleans is 23-4 as a team in the middle of the order and has tried 14 different doubles combinations so far this season.
MT will wrap up this weekend's matches on Sunday against LA Tech, in the Blue Raiders' fourth C-USA match this season.
Jazmin Britos leads the Bulldogs at the No. 1 spot in the lineup with a record of 12-5, followed by Nadja Manjon, Alba Escalona Perny and Marta Sramkova, who all own 11-7 records. Sramkova and Sonia Chen are winners of five consecutive dual match singles matches. Manjon has paired with Sramkova to win five straight doubles matches, as the combo is 5-1 this season, winning four times at the No. 3 spot.
LA Tech is 11-8 on the season, including a 4-0 mark at home as well as three wins in neutral site matches. The Bulldogs took down C-USA opponent UAB, 5-2, on Feb. 4 in Birmingham.
