MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee begins its five-game road trip in Memphis, with a two-game mid-week series starting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
The second game of the series will be played in Memphis Wednesday at 4 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m., but due to impending weather the game time and location was changed last Friday.
The two games will account for the 89th and 90th meetings between the two programs. The two teams have met for two-game series a season ago, with the Blue Raiders sweeping the series. MT leads the overall series 45-43.
Middle Tennessee looks to build off of its series win over Kennesaw State this past weekend. The Blue Raiders took Sunday's rubber match by a score of 9-7, clinching its first series win of the season.
Offense has been a bright spot in the Blue Raiders season so far, ranking 4th Conference USA with 122 hits through the first 11 games. MT's lineup has been strong throughout the year, with five batters hitting over .326.
Senior Riley Delgado and sophomore Austin Dennis, are tied for eighth in C-USA with 17 hits apiece. Redshirt junior Aaron Aucker is tied for eighth in C-USA with 13 RBI, while sophomore Austin Dennis is tied for first in the league with five stolen bases.
Redshirt sophomore transfer, Tyler Holcombe ranks 17th in the nation with three saves on the year, two of which, came this past weekend against Kennesaw State.
Freshman Grant Williams is projected to get the start Tuesday, the Hendersonville native has thrown 6-1/3 innings of work this season.
AJ Spencer will start Wednesday coming off a shoulder injury, that limited his workload this season. Spencer started six games as a freshman on the mound for MT.
The Tigers (RV) have looked impressive this season, with wins over then-ranked No. 8 Ole Miss and No. 25 Tennessee. Memphis is coming off a series win over Georgia Southern, a common opponent of Middle Tennessee.
Memphis will start all RHP James Muse Tuesday and RHP Jonathan Bowlan Wednesday.
