Blue Raiders vs. ETSU at 2 p.m. at ATC
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee is playing its best tennis at the right time, as the Blue Raiders will look to improve on their four-match win streak in the final regular season match against East Tennessee State on Wednesday.
MT enters play on Wednesday at the Adams Tennis Complex with a record of 11-12 on the year, including a 6-3 mark at home. Gian Issa leads the squad with 11 dual match singles wins and four straight victories, while Tom Moonen and Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore have put together seven consecutive doubles wins, all at the No. 1 spot.
For the Buccaneers, reigning SoCon Player of the Week David Biosca leads the charge with a 12-3 record at the top position in the lineup, including six straight triumphs. Robert Herrera leads the Bucs in dual match singles wins with a 14-2 mark on the season, with seven consecutive wins. Towards the bottom of the ETSU lineup, David Gonzalez provides some strength, winning 11 matches this season, including wins in eight of his last 10 times out.
In doubles action, ETSU is 28-22 (.560) as a team this season and is led by the No. 1 doubles combo of Herrera and Diego Nunez, who are 10-7 entering the match against MT. Biosca is the team leader in dual match doubles wins with 11, all at the No. 2 spot.
The Bucs (11-7) fell to No. 2 Wake Forest, Alabama and No. 8 USC to open the season, but have since taken wins over Virginia Tech, UAB and Florida Atlantic in non-conference action. ETSU is a perfect 6-0 against SoCon opponents and has won nine of its last 10 matches.
