Raiders take first tee box at 7 CT
FORT MYERS, Fla. – With the Conference USA Championship starting Monday, the Middle Tennessee women's golf team continues its preparations with an Easter Sunday practice round at the Verandah Club in Fort Myers, Fla.
The tournament begins with 18 holes Monday and will conclude on Wednesday. The Par 72, 6,194-yard Old Orange course at the Verandah Club will play host to all three rounds.
The Blue Raiders will kick things off on the first tee Monday at 7:00 p.m. CT alongside FIU and UTEP as they look to defend their back-to-back league titles and earn a third consecutive NCAA Regional berth.
Freshman Katherine Holmes will be first on the tee box for the Blue Raiders followed by junior Cynthia Bounleutay, both of which are making their first appearance in the C-USA Championship.
MT returns a trio of Top 10 finishers from the 2016 championship team in senior Samantha Gotcher and sophomores Jenna Burris and Hanley Long.
Long will be the third Blue Raider to go off. She boasts a 75.5 stroke average on the season and finished second at the Verandah Club as a true freshman in 2016 with a score of 1-under par 215 (72-72-71).
Gotcher will be making her third appearance at the Verandah Club after posting a fifth-place finish (75-73-71=219) in 2016 and a second place finish in 2015 (68-67-72=207). Her 54-hole total of 9-under 207 in the 2015 C-USA Championship stands as a program record.
Burris, who has been on fire in the spring with a 73.8 stroke average in 12 rounds, finished tied for 10th in last season's C-USA Championship with a three-round total of 8-over 224 (74-75-75).
Pairings and tee times for rounds two and three will be set following the preceding round based on the current standings. Live scoring can be followed each day at GolfStat.com.
