Aucker homers in setback
Despite the setback, Blue Raider designated hitter Aaron Aucker continued to swing a hot bat. Aucker was 1-for-3 with one run scored and one RBI. Aucker connected for his team-leading seventh home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Ryan Kemp also added an extra-base hit with a fourth-inning double. He would score on Austin Dennis' RBI single. Otherwise, good news was limited for the Blue Raiders. Riley Delgado and Darrell Freeman Jr. also had base hits for Middle Tennessee.
The game was delayed by 1 hour, 15 minutes at the outset. When it started, Vanderbilt's bats were already hot. The Commodores scored two in the first, added seven in the second and broke it open with a five-run third to go on top 14-0 before Middle Tennessee got on the board in the bottom of the fourth.
The Blue Raiders will face Charlotte in a pivotal C-USA series on the road this weekend.
