Abu, Rutto named league's athlete of the week

Duo posts standout times to claim honor
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Seniors Agnes Abu and Eliud Rutto have been tabbed C-USA Track Athlete of the Week after climbing the national rankings in standout performances at the 59th annual Mt. SAC Relays last weekend, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Abu shattered the school record in the women's 800-meter run, clocking a 2:02.70. Her time bested the previous school mark of 2:04.97 set in 2010, and ranks first in the league and fourth in the NCAA.
Rutto finished the men's 800-meter run as the top collegian with a time of 1:45.70. Rutto's time ranks No. 1 in the conference and second nationally.
Tuesday's honors mark the first outdoor weekly this season for Abu and Rutto.
