Amponsah sets record to close War Eagle Invite

Blue Raiders grab 20 top 10 finishes on weekend
AUBURN, Ala. — For the second consecutive day, the Middle Tennessee record books were rewritten as Janet Amponsah set a new school mark to close out the War Eagle Invitational.
Amponsah clocked a 23.10 in the women's 200-meter dash to take second place and take over as the school's record holder.
Julia Jelagat took second in the open section of the women's 1500-meter run with a time of 4:44.31.
Rhema Cheruiyot followed with a second-place finish in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking a 11:18.90.
On the men's side, the Blue Raiders grabbed three top five finishes in the men's 800-meter run. Sampson Laari led the charge with a time of 1:47.34 for third place, while Hillary Rono finished fourth and Kigen Chemadi finished fifth with times of 1:50.01 and 1:51.06, respectively.
In the field, Jacob Patten took bronze in the men's high jump with a leap of 6-09.50.
The Blue Raiders will prep for the Penn Relays next weekend for the final meet of the season before the Conference USA Championships.
