MT sets pair of records on day two of Penn Relays

Blue Raiders claim five more Top 10 finishes
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – On day two of the Penn Relays, Middle Tennessee broke two school records and grabbed five more top 10 finishes, including a pair of qualifying times for Saturday's finals.
On the men's side, the MT quartet of Eliud Rutto, Adeniji Adedamola, Sampson Laari and Geoffry Cheruiyot set the tone of the day. The squad shattered the school record and finished third in the men's Distance Medley Championship Invitational with a time of 9:33.25.
The men's Sprint Medley Relay squad of Ifiok Umoh, Tahir Walsh, Trevon Sanders and Hillary Rono finished ninth, while the Blue Raiders' men's 4x400 team claimed a spot in Saturday's collegiate final after finishing 10th. The 4x400 team of Adeniji Adedamola, Tahir Walsh, Ifiok Umoh and Trevon Sanders clocked a 3:10.85.
On the women's side, the team of Loveth Odia, Janet Amponsah, Abike Egbeniyi and Agnes Abu cut 10 seconds off the school record and took silver in the Sprint Medley Championship Invitational with an impressive time of 3:43.67.
Individually, Janet Amponsah nearly eclipsed her personal-best mark in the women's 100-meter dash, as the junior finished third with a time of 11.51 to qualify for Saturday's final.
The Blue Raiders will close the Penn Relays Saturday with events beginning at 1:15 p.m.
MT will also take part in the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational hosted by Louisville Saturday, with action getting underway at 9 a.m. in the throwing events.
