MT caps weekend with three school records

Raiders set new PR marks in Louisville
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Three school records fell on the final day of the Penn Relays, while Middle Tennessee also logged three new personal-best marks at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational hosted by Louisville.
"In terms of individual performance, we couldn't ask for a better weekend," head coach Dean Hayes said. "We broke five school records overall and three on the final day. I couldn't be prouder of the performances we had this week. This is a great way to build momentum heading into the Conference Championships."
After earning a spot in the College Finals section on Friday, the men's 4x400 team of Adeniji Adedamola, Tahir Walsh, Ifiok Umoh and Trevon Sanders finished second in Saturday's finals with a time of 3:09.00.
MT also set a new school mark in the men's 4x800-meter relay. The team of Kigen Chemadi, Hillary Rono, Sampson Laari and Eliud Rutto finished ninth in the Championship Invitational with a time of 7:25.13.
On the women's side, Middle Tennessee's 4x400 relay team rewrote the school record for the third time this season. The squad of Janet Amponsah, Agnes Abu, Loveth Odia and Abike Egbeniyi clocked a mark of 3:33.99 to take fifth in the Championship Invitational.
At the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational hosted by Louisville, three Blue Raiders set new personal bests en route to 11 Top 10 finishes.
In the field, Jacob Patten set a new personal-best mark of 14.80 meters in the triple jump to finish fifth, and finished sixth in the high jump with a leap of 2.10 meters.
Jessica Howell logged a personal best in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 12.44, while in distance Sharon Kibiwott earned a personal-best time of 4:42.80 in the 1500-meter run.
Middle Tennessee will return to action May 11-14 as the Blue Raiders get set for the C-USA Championships in El Paso, Texas.
