No. 25 Southern Miss stuns Blue Raiders, 13-9

Delgado, Kemp, Vesser combine for 10 hits
After a delay of two hours, one minute due to inclement weather; however, that lead quickly washed away.
Middle Tennessee scored what looked like a big insurance run when the game resumed in the bottom of the eighth to go up 8-5, but Southern Miss (34-12, 16-5) came off of the deck for eight runs in the top of the ninth to stun the Blue Raiders (20-24, 7-14), 13-9.
Middle Tennessee collected 15 hits but it wasn't enough. Riley Delgado led the way with a 4-for-5. Ryan Kemp and Chaz Vesser were each 3-for-4 . Kaleb King was 1-for-3 with a home run.
Jake Wyrick pitched well with five innings of two-hit baseball. He struck out six in his five-inning stint but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead.
Southern Miss went on top 1-0 in the top of the second, but Kaleb King put a jolt into a Trent Driver offering and drove it over the fence in right center for his second home run of the season to tie the game 1-1 in the bottom of the second. The fun was far from over in that inning. Manuel Lopez walked, and Vesser and Delgado followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases with one out. One wild pitch, one sac fly and one balk later, and Middle Tennessee had strung together a four-run inning to take a 4-1 cushion.
The Blue Raiders took advantage of Southern Miss control problems in the third when King drew a one-out walk. With two outs, Lopez was hit by a pitch. Both runners scored on a Vesser double to push the lead to 6-1 and give the Blue Raiders control.
Unfortunately, for Middle Tennessee, it was unable to protect the lead as the Golden Eagles came from behind for the win. Middle Tennessee will be back in action when it faces UTSA in San Antonio next weekend.
