MT to host a pair of C-USA foes

Sediri honored on Sunday for Senior Day
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The 2017 Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship hosted by North Texas doesn't start until April 20, but Middle Tennessee will get a preview of the tournament this weekend when it hosts UAB and Southern Miss.
The Blue Raiders will open the weekend home stand on Friday at 2 p.m. against the Blazers, who are 5-12 on the season.
Senior Pardis Kianoush leads UAB with an 8-4 record at the top spot of the lineup, followed by Marlene Herrmann at No. 2. The Blazers have a 29-53 (.354) mark in singles matches as a team. In doubles, Kianoush pairs with Reghan Lynch at the top doubles spot for a 5-2 mark in dual match doubles this season, winning four consecutive matches. UAB has notched wins over Lipscomb, Kennesaw State, Troy, Jackson State and Alabama A&M.
Sarah Sediri will be honored on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. against Southern Miss as MT's only senior.
The Golden Eagles, 11-7 on the year, have wins over Jackson State, Kennesaw State, and Alcorn State, among others. Southern Miss is strong at the top of the order, with Carolin Drescher posting a 10-3 mark at the top spot in the lineup, followed by eight wins on court two by Alex Kitchen. Tjasa Jerse leads the Golden Eagles in dual match singles wins with 15, winning at No. 3, 4, 5 and 6. While Southern Miss is strong at home, 9-2 this season, they have just two wins in seven matches played on the road.
Gift cards to Sam's Sports Grill will be given out at Sunday's match against the Golden Eagles, and free T-shirts will be given out to fans during both matches this weekend.
