Blue Raiders grab two wins on Day 2 in Knoxville

MT closes Tennessee Relays Saturday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — With day two in the books, Middle Tennessee grabbed 12 top 10 finishes, including a pair of wins in the women's 200-meter dash and 800-meter run.

Abike Egbeniyi continued to thrive in the start to the outdoor season, as the junior led a 1, 2 finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:05.43. Teammate Agnes Abu followed with a time of 2:05.73.

Janet Amponsah grabbed the second MT victory of the day in the 200-meter dash, clocking a 23.19, and finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.65.

On the men's side, Sampson Laari and Kigen Chemadi finished the day with a pair of top 10 finishes in the 1500-meter run. Laari clocked a 3:45.66 time to finish third, while Chemadi took seventh with a time of 3:48.65.

The Blue Raiders will resume the Tennessee Relays at noon Saturday beginning with team relays and field events.
