Former Standout Zac Curtis Called up to the MLB

Curtis will join the Seattle Mariners for their weekend series vs. the Toronto Blue Jays
MURFREESBORO, Tenn.— Former Middle Tennessee standout pitcher Zac Curtis has been called up from the Double-A Arkansas Travelers, to the majors with the Seattle Mariners, the organization announced Thursday.
Curtis will join the Mariners as they take on the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend.
"I'm excited to see Zac get this opportunity with the Mariners and return to the big leagues," said Head Coach Jim McGuire. "His hard work has paid off and I am extremely proud of him!"
So far this season with the Travelers, Curtis has impressed in 10 relief appearances, compiling a 3.24 ERA and holding opponents to a .176 batting average in 14 innings of work. The Hendersonville native, has struck out 13 batters, while earning three saves on the year.
This is not his first stint in the MLB, as he made his major league debut in April last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Curtis made 21 total appearances with the D-Backs in 2016.
In his time as a Blue Raider, Curtis led the country with 136 strikeouts in 2014, the most ever by any MT pitcher. He was selected in the sixth round of the MLB Draft in 2014.
