Aucker earned First-Team Honors, while Delgado was named to the Second Team
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee placed two players on the Conference USA All-Conference Team, with designated hitter Aaron Aucker earning First-Team All-Conference honors, while for the second year in-a-row, Riley Delgado earned Second-Team All-Conference honors.
Aucker and Delgado led the potent MT offense, which finished the season ranking 13th in the country in hits, 26th with a .306 team batting average, and 36th in doubles.
Aucker was the most powerful Blue Raider offensive player when healthy, the Knoxville, Tenn., native crushed a team-high 10 home runs, while also leading the team with a .641 slugging percentage (3rd in C-USA), .448 on-base percentage (9th in C-USA) and triples (2).
The designated hitter finished his strong junior campaign, second on the team with a .359 batting average (8th in C-USA), and 41 RBI.
"Aaron had a tremendous year," said Head Coach Jim McGuire. "He battled through injuries to put up big-time numbers, and every time he was in the lineup we seemed to score runs. I am very proud of what he did this year, while going through a lot of adversity."
Delgado started at shortstop all 55 games for the second straight year, hitting in the leadoff spot in all but five contests. The two-year Blue Raider ranked 19th in the country with 82 hits this season, while also ranking as the 52nd toughest player to strikeout.
Delgado finished the year first on the team in hits, runs (41), and total bases (108). Delgado also ended the season second on the squad with 15 doubles and 23 walks.
The Miami, Fla., native ranks seventh all-time in Blue Raider history as a career .369 hitter. Delgado was also named to the C-USA All-Academic Team yesterday.
"Riley is very deserving of this award, it is very tough to put the numbers that he has in both years that he's been here," said McGuire. "He is a leader by example offensively and defensively and one of the best infielders in Conference USA."
