MT to host 10 matches at Dean A. Hayes Stadium
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's soccer has released its 2017 schedule featuring five non-conference home matches and four in-state foes, as announced by head coach Aston Rhoden.
"The 2017 schedule will see us compete against several in-state opponents as well as a few teams we haven't played in quite a while," Rhoden said. "Each game will challenge us in a different manner but collectively I'm confident they will all assist us in our preparation for a tough Conference USA slate and postseason play."
The Blue Raiders kick things off in the preseason with a pair of road exhibition matches at Southeastern Conference member Alabama on Aug. 10 before traveling to nearby Martin Methodist on Aug. 13.
The regular season begins just up Interstate 24 as MT takes on Belmont on Aug. 18 after hosting the Bruins a season ago in a 1-1 draw.
The Raiders' home opener is two days later on Aug. 20 at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium, where they will host a second in-state rival in Austin Peay at 6:00 p.m.
MT returns to the road for two consecutive weekends, taking on Jacksonville State on Aug. 25 and Tennessee Tech on Sep. 1.
Rhoden and the Blue Raiders then open up a five-game homestand with a Sunday evening match-up against Tennessee kicking off at 5:00 p.m. on Sep. 3.
Home matches against UIC (Sep. 10), Kennesaw State (Sep. 15) and Evansville (Sep. 17) conclude the non-conference portion of the schedule, but the homestand continues with the Conference USA opener against UTSA on Sep. 24 at 2:00 p.m.
MT's first league road trip begins on Sep. 29 at Florida Atlantic and includes a stop at FIU on Oct. 1 before returning to Murfreesboro.
The Raiders then host rival WKU in a Friday evening contest on Oct. 6 before welcoming Marshall to Hayes Stadium on Oct. 8.
The final two-game road swing takes the Blue Raiders to Texas to face off against Rice on Oct. 13 and UTEP on Oct. 15 before a Thursday night contest at home against LA Tech on Oct. 19.
Senior Day will take place on Oct. 22 as the Raiders host Southern Miss in the final home match of 2017. The regular season finale takes place in Birmingham as the Raiders take on UAB on Oct. 27.
The 2017 Conference USA Soccer Championship will be hosted by Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton, Fla. The top eight finishers from the regular season will compete in the tournament on Nov. 1-5.
