MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee and head football coach Rick Stockstill welcomed special guests to their June 4 Elite Camp.
Penn State head coach James Franklin and his staff made the trip from State College, Pennsylvania, to Murfreesboro to help run the camp, which featured hundreds of the best high school talent in the Southeast.
"I really appreciate James Franklin and his staff for being here along with UT-Martin, Murray State, Chattanooga, Arkansas-Monticello and Lindsey Wilson College," said Stockstill. "We had a super turnout and it was a pleasure working with Coach Franklin and his staff. They are already eager to come back again next year."
Camps are critical to coaches and their staffs throughout the country, especially when it's on campus.
"It had the potential to be really big and it turned out to be really great," MT Football Director of Player Personnel Will Redmond said. "It was awesome having those guys on campus. Top to bottom that's a great staff, and you could tell they were here to see the kids work and be around them.
"We had just about 300 kids on campus, so it was a great opportunity to showcase this place and for them to be around our staff."
Franklin, who was the head man at Vanderbilt from 2011-2013, has experience working in the middle Tennessee area, making a joint camp with MT an easy decision.
"They're familiarity with the mid-state played a large part in it," Redmond said. "They knew it would be beneficial to come here to Middle Tennessee, and Coach Stockstill's reputation in the coaching community made it a no-brainer for them. It was awesome hosting them on campus and working with them in the camp."
Stockstill's final two Elite Camps of the summer will be on June 10 and 16. Go to coachstockstillcamps.com to register.
